28. tigabutang ug sapatos sa kabayo

This time i decided to write this in bisaya...

Daghan man jud diay kabajo (kabayo) sa baguio.

27. Nagpaparent ng Costume

This year's SPVM was in Baguio City. We arrived 1 day ahead from our pals and had nothing to do so my students and I decided to have a tour within the city. We went to the usual tourist destinations like Camp john Hay, Strawberry Farm (La trinidad, benguet) , the mansion, botanical garden and mines view park. Being so excited with "what can we see" at the famous mines view park, we immediately went inside, however the smell of the "bulad na pusit" made us stop and just could not resist its tempting invitation to have a bite so we bought some for P15.00 and continued walking down.

Igorot costumes

We were attracted with the red-green Igorot costume and just to know how it feels to be an igorot even for a while, we decided to rent a costume for a price of P10.00/person. Its a complete apparel (costume + props).

Karl- feeling igorot

Nice business i thought, since Baguio City is a crowded place, there will always be people just like us who would like to wear traditional clothing.. (souvenir purposes)

I was thinking how would the owner look like if he wears one (the bahag ang ako pasabot), but then maybe its not part of the package .. since he's not wearing traditional clothing ..kitamS!

But then i had a nice souvenir with some students wearing the traditional igorot clothes.. see? murag wala sila gitugnaw...:-)

26. Slow down, men working

Road makers sila....

Thats one thing i really enjoyed during weekends. I dont think ill be enjoying my life more if puro na lang ako work.. of course work and no play will make me a dull girl.

Yes! i really like to seat in front, feeling driver kasi ako. Kaya off we go, drive na kami papuntang cagayan.

After a while, nagkataka na lang me bakit medyo may traffic sa lonely highway. Unusual, siguro may inaayos na kalsada. I bet, im right!.. meron nga! kuha ako agad ng aking camera para makunan sila, magandang sample ito for my blog.

Since matulin magdrive si manong kanina, at ngayon medyo nagslow down sya, nagkaroon nga ako ng chance para sa pictorial. Di lang nga maganda ang aking mga pictures kasi di naman ako gifted or should i say talented. Pero ok naman, u can still see it.

At may instant traffic person pa.. tigdala ng Stop, and Go sign! in the absence of traffic light.

25. Tour Guide

"I dont know exactly how to call her job but i think "tour guide" would be nice since she toured me in their aviary"

On my way to Cagayan de Oro City, i saw a sign while i was inside the Jeepney, it says "Opol Aviary". I immediately made "para" and visited the place. "Entrance Fee P30.00", its quite expensive for a place like this i thought but then i still entered the place and paid the fee. A nice smile welcomed me and so i made a smile too. (Hmmm... very hospitable!) Near the entrance gate, i saw a baby crocodile but then my desire to have a pee first distracted me from my amazement at the baby crocodile so i went directly to the comfort room. (WOW! very comforting!). That was really a relief, and i focused my attention again at the baby crocodile. A charming girl welcomed me again and showed me the inside of a large cage. When i entered, i made a WOW! Never seen anything like this soo close.

I was sort off shocked when a big bird approached me and made kis-kis at my legs.. mukhang sanay na sanay sa tao. I didnt know if that was really a bird or a chicken but the guide told me it was really a bird. I took several pictures of this "unusual bird". But then, i wasn't satisfied yet so i asked the guide what else can they offer. She then showed me eagles, maya from china and other birds... birds and birds.. different colors, sizes and form pero lahat sila may pakpak.

Ako parrot!

Ako Ibon!

Love bird ako!

Ako Hornbill from Palawan!

Those were some of the variety of birds ive seen at the Opol Aviary, aside sa Ibon, meron pa silang maamong Philippine deer, a very dear creature indeed! hehehehe

Marami ring naging kwento si sarah sa akin, pero amin na lng iyon ... but thanks to her, i learned a lot about birds and i enjoyed my tour. maraming salamat sa kanya.

24. Bibingka Vendor

It was a nice Saturday morning and since i have no work, i decided to have a journey to Misamis Oriental. I usually passed this place but i never had the chance to explore its beauty aside from Cagayan de Oro City.

I started my journey in Iligan City's Centennial Park. I paid P15.00 for the fare (mahal na pala pamasahe ngayon) and took pictures of the beach, the lovers and anything nice.

yummy berries

ang sarap maligo

I was entertained with how the lovers shared their kilig moments while watching the beach and it made me remember sometimes being single is not fun at all especially when you see places which is best seen when u have someone beside you. However since i started the journey alone, i must finish it all by myself. After taking a few more shots, i waived goodbye to centennial and proceeded directly to Initao. But then, i saw some bingkahan at Manticao and decided to have a stop for a while to have a bite.

ang sign board

Since it was already lunch time, i became hungry after seeing the delicious bibingka. I bought several pieces and made a chika-chika with the vendor while waiting for a bus. There, i knew her name as Ate ging, she's been selling bibingka for quite a long time na and awakening my curiosity, i convinced ate ging to teach me to cook bibingka.

ang bibingka

For how many years, i thought bibingka was made from glutinous rice (malagkit na bigas) and thanks to aling ging i found out that the main ingredients are ordinary rice, coconut milk and sugar. (She did not mention her secret hehehe). You must have an oven too she said while pointing at her oven. It was an improvised "oven" made from galvanized iron.

Aling Gings "Oven"

Then, she said "after combining all the ingredients, you must first put some woods under and above the oven. You must also put some banana leaves on the molder since the leaves add aroma to the bibingka".

Si ate ging

That's it, i learned my "how to cook a bibingka" from an expert. However, i noticed that there were only few customers. At that time, i was the only one buying bibingka from her maybe because it was not yet snack time. And ate ging must have read my mind, she told me that selling was not as good as before since the price of the rice today increased terribly. They just hope that rice prices will lower down soon.

I was not able too saw her put some bibingka mixture in the molder since a bus arrived and i must continue the journey. So i waived bye bye to aling ging and headed my way to Initao national Park.

23. Mascot

I went to jolibee together with Sir. After eating, bumalik na kami sa school, and then luckily, nakasalubong ko si jolibee! a very Jolly Bee.

Then, napathink ko, bakit meron bang mascot? so i seek help kay mr. wiki... sabi nya ang mascot raw ay "person, animal, or object adopted by a group as a symbolic figure especially to bring them good luck"

22. food catering services

hmmm.. yummy!

"Starting your own catering business can be both financially rewarding and fun. Whether you cater events on a full-time or a part-time basis, the opportunities are excellent. Each catered event is a new experience and challenge with a new group of people. With the rewards and fun come demanding work, for which you will need stamina and the ability to work under pressure."

But wait! I have no plans of putting my own food catering services now (but maybe sooner, i have to find myself a good, excellent and handsome (husband) chef- AMBISYOSA!). But indeed (from what i have observed from my Tita's catering services), it was really "financially" rewarding and fun.

the spirit of bayanihan hehehehe

Financially rewarding: Kasi malaki ang kita, the ingredients are not that expensive.

1 cup of rice.. (minsan unlimited din ito)
dessert (could be brownie (1 slice) or cake (1 slice pa rin) and minsan fruit salad na nakalagay sa cup)
then drinks (water and 8 oz. softdrinks)

Materials + Overhead + Labor + Profit = Price

ayan!.. still malaki pa rin ang kita.. kaya financially rewarding nga and if satisfies ang customer sa lasa ng food, then its very very rewarding... but its a really hard job (i guess) hehehehe..

ang caterer during our ruby celebration

aside sa menu, dapat ding iconsider ang food presentation, dapat katatakam-takam na sa unang tingin pa lang. very presentable and appealing dapat ang mga pagkain, just like below:

see... bongga!

and aside sa food, pati na rin dapat ang tables and venue, neatly and wonderfully arranged. Dapat din attractive to the eyes ang mantle, pati na rin ang tissue holder.

di bah... creative!

Every catering event is a new experience kasi uve got to meet different types of people (i mean the characters and not the kingdom they belong). Minsan nakaka-encounter sila ng very formal people in a very formal event, meron ding parang typical na b-day party, minsan nagiging childrens party na, but then, kahit anong level pa sila ng crowd, every service is a challenge...

so if ur planning to put up a catering services:

"To be successful in the catering business, one must produce delicious food that is safe and wholesome."

"Keep hot foods "HOT" and cold foods "COLD."

and kung meron pa kaung tanong, visit this site hehehehe

21. Bus Driver and Bus Conductor

After the SFC Anniversary program we decided to go home immediately since its not a good place to shope at Kolambugan (no malls and big dept stores). Its also late to go to Ozamis. When we left the gym, the clouds were partly angry, maybe somebody made him mad. However, it didn’t cry yet so we hurriedly walked to the nearest bus station. Fortunately, Mr. Cloud cooperated and made the skies quite clear so while waiting for the bus, we decided to take a picture for the sake of remembrance.

Smile!

Then the bus arrived. It was already full, but thinking that the clouds will soon cry hard, we immediately went inside even though we know we will be in a standing position. And we were correct, while riding the bus, the clouds cried very hard. If we chose to wait for another bus where we can sit comfortably, then we will be soaking wet. I havent found my balance yet so when the driver suddenly stepped the break, i kissed Henry's back. Im glad that Brod Henry has a broad and firm back, if not for his back , i would have kissed the windshield which is more embarrassing if that happened.

While standing uncomfortably.. may chance pa akong magpicture..bigatin!

Even though the road was slippery, the driver didnt mind it at all... (or maybe he was slightly bothered but not really bothered). He could just easily made a turn and a stop (thats the reason why i had kissed Henry's back). He's fantastic, i wonder if there were times where he got very tired of driving and almost fell asleep. But i know he would counter act the sleepy syndrome since the passenger's faith was in his hand. Safety first muna.

si mamang driver

Since were like sardines inside, very close to each other (di na mahulugan ng karayom sa sobrang sikip), the bus conductor couldn’t move easily to give us the tickets and the fare so he just used the power of voice and the hands of my group mates to reached those who were quite far from him (kay nglisod na sya ug lihok). Then i wonder, di ba kapoy ang magsige tindog samot na kung dghan tao sa bus?

ang kunduktor

And so fortunate of me, after standing for 30 minutes, i was given a very comfortable seat and befriended my seat mate.

20. Snack and meal vendor

It’s SFC's Anniversary yesterday and its Kolambugan's SFC Members time to host the event. Very excited to join the event, our group agreed to assemble at Jetti's Gasoline station by 6:30AM. I went early to the station and luckily I had my breakfast since when I came, we were only few. We waited for about 30 minutes for the other members and when they arrived, we proceed to Kolambugan (using a Bus) immediately. It was 9Am when we arrived at the venue. Some of my group mates didn’t eat their breakfast so it was such a relief that there was a sari-sari stuff vendor inside the gym.

ang mga paninda ni ate

Since the program didn’t start yet my group mates immediately bought something to eat. It was a nice idea for the vendor to sell not only snacks but also meals.

kuya!.. dahan-dahan lang sa pagkain

Such a great business at that time, no competition (since they were the only store there) and the weather cooperated too. Even the gymnasium joined them; we were almost grilled inside because it was not properly ventilated. Thus, we bought cold drinks many times just to ease the thirst.

pwede ito na lang ate?

Then I thought, this business happens only when there are events on the gym (maybe they already have a nice agreement with the gym's management) but if they were the only one selling (it’s like a monopoly), then they will earn a lot.

19. The Chainsaw Man

It has been left untouched by someone who bought it maybe few years back. When we transferred here in our place, that vacant lot looked like a mini virgin forest. If not virgin forest, bahay kubo kahit munti at ang halaman doon ay sari-sari.

may galit ka ba sa puno kuya?

After few years of being unmoved, the owner decided to use the place. And i dont know about his plans. But then he started to fenced the area with hollow blocks, cut down the trees and used it as lumbers. But its not the owners initiative that catches my attention, its the chainsaw man. Kasi ang ingay habang pinuputol nya ang coconut tree. But then, since the noise pollution almost destroyed my sense of hearing, i decided to make them pay in return by asking my sister to take pictures of them.

si chainsaw man

if i was the one taking the pictures, it would have been artistically done hehehehe... but im washing my clothes too so i beg my sister really hard. She was also shy, pero malas nya kasi ako ang ate, mataas kasi respect nya sa matatanda. I have not seen a chainsaw man in action except sa horror movies (Texas chainsaw massacre) and im really happy that i have seen one last week.

may audience na sya..sosyal!

The cutting must be carefully done since konting mistake might cost him his legs or maybe his hand. But i know, he undergone serious training in making lumbers, cutting trees and etc. Amazing diba! kanina punong niyog yan, ngayon coconut lumber na. Ano nga kaya talaga ang plano ng engineer? i must wait for their next moved and kukunan ko sila ulit ng pictures hehe.

18. Laundry business

the shop

Kahapon, naisipan kong i-5S ang aking room, changed everything, bed sheets, pillow covers, and curtains, clean everything from top of cabinets and under my bed, and arranged everything from books to dresses. After ng 5's thing, i observed ang gatambak na labahan sa aking laundry basket. Nyah!...mostly malalaking tela pa talaga like curtains and bed covers. Since wala kaming washing machine, i plan to make babad the things and then kunting remedy, banlaw at then sampay agad. But when i looked again the size ng sheets ...di ko ata ito kakayanin.

ang aking mess

I immediately placed those things in a bag, and then i went directly to laundry shops. But before pa ako maka-alis, my housemate informed me that laundry shops have different charging for bed sheets. Nevertheless, i decided to continue since im really too lazy to do the washing myself. First, i went to somewhat class na laundry shop, but when they checked the bed sheet, they charge me P200 per piece. What? P200? tapos 3 bed sheets ang dala ko, then i would pay them P600, kung ganung, bibili na lang ako ng bagong bed cover. Then i decided to go to the next shop, and doon, they charge me P50.00 per sheet and P50.00 rin para sa apat na kumot.

Thinking na nakadiscount ako, i paid P180.00 for the entire job.

ang aking nabayaran

and then i went home with a big smile on my face.. yes!.. pinalabhan ko na and after a day good as new na ang aking bed sheets and covers. But then, when i finally reached home, my housemate inform me, willing daw labhan ng labandera nya ang aking mess for P150.00. Naman!.. too late!.. kainis... but then, on the brighter side, makukuha ko na after 1 day ang aking mess... and if hihintayin ko ung labandera nya, hintay pa ako ng sunday. so ok n rin.

17. Ngpipintura ng Warning Signs

'Note: I dont know how to call their job.... the best one i could think of is the title"

I often wonder, why and mga warning signs, aside sa neon colors, bakit karaniwang painted with black and yellow, or white and red. But mostly talaga, black and yellow just like below:

http://www.doubleimage.co.uk/new_signs/warning_symbols.jpg

http://www.wpclipart.com/imgpage.html?http://www.wpclipart.com/
signs_symbol/safety_signs/warning_sign.png

Even mga roads are sometimes painted in black and yellow, pati na rin ung railings para sa overpass, and sa tabi ng traffic light, to inform the public na "di dito pwede tumawid, umakyat kayo sa overpass kung maaari" or" bawal ang jay walking dito", proof?

the proof ha

But maybe because attractive sa mata ang combination ng black at yellow and so madali itong makikita. Sabi ni Mr. Wiki, "yellow with black letters and symbols are for warning signs, such as curves and school zones".

during the painting session

But actually, what really amazes me is yung ngpipintura, kasi they know perspective, parati kasing diagonally straight and even ang painted road signs horizontally straight talaga. At naiingit ako, kasi un ang wala sa akin, even if mr. ruler will guide me, horizontal straight will not really be that horizontally oriented.

Puno sila ng warning signs, syempre for safety baka kasi masagasaan sila (simba ko palayo! hehe) or whatever. They were so careful sa kanilang work, no room for clumsy things. In a year ilang beses ba nila pinipinturahan ang mga road signs? and also. how do they keep the lines straight? Bakit straight na straight talaga? I might ask them later, sana mamya nandun pa sila.
